Facing the Migraine Giant
Migraines can be so debilitating. And finding solutions can be challenging. Here are a few natural remedies for relief.
Food
Eat Foods High in magnesium such as spinach, swiss chard, pumpkin seeds, plain yogurt, kefir, almonds, avocados, figs, dates and sweet potatoes.
Increase intake of Omega 3's healthy fat to help control blood flow and lower inflammation such as wild salmon and sardines.
Supplements
Sometimes we don't uptake enough nutrients from our food or don't eat enough of the right foods so filling in the gaps with proper supplementation can make the difference.
Essential Oils
Peppermint oil on a warm towel or even a drop on your temples can work wonders. This is my personal favorite for some instant relief. Peppermint works by having a cooling effect and also triggers muscle contractions; stimulating blood flow around the head.
Lavender essential oil is calming and soothing. This can help reduce the anxiety caused by migraines and help you sleep better by decreasing muscle tension. I rub some on mixed with a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil.
